Ghulam Nabi Lone

JKPDP (Chrar-i-Sharief)

Ghulam Nabi Lone is the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (JKPDP) leader and a former Cabinet minister in the Jammu and Kashmir government. In the 2014 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections, Lone won the Chrar-i-Sharief seat by defeating the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) leader Abdul Rahim Rather by 5,167 votes. In the 2008 and 2002 Assembly polls, Lone was defeated by Rather with a margin of 6,375 and 3,755 votes respectively. Lone was the chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council from 2007 to 2009. He held Agriculture and Revenue ministries in the successive governments of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and Mehbooba Mufti in Jammu and Kashmir. The JKPDP leader is again contesting from Chrar-i-Sharief in the 2024 Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections against Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) candidate Abdul Rahim Rather, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party's (JKAP) Owais Ashraf Shah, and Zahid Hussain Jan of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
