More than a week after the Mahayuti clinched a massive victory in Maharashtra polls with the BJP emerging as the single largest party with 132 seats, the new government is yet to be sworn in.

RM Patre, Shinde's family doctor, told media, "He is doing fine now. He has been experiencing fever, body pain, throat infection, and cold for the past two days. We have administered antibiotics. A team of three to four doctors is attending to him."

After days of speculations, Shiv Sena has finally demanded the Home Ministery portfolio. The govt formation is delayed in Maharashtra as all three parties are having discussions around the shape of the new cabinet.

Eknath Shinde, now the caretaker chief minister, has said he will “fully support” the BJP leadership’s decision to name the next chief minister, and would not be a hurdle.

According to sources, there will be a meeting of the BJP legislature party first where its leader will be elected and then there will be a joint meeting of Mahayutu alliance.

Despite the Mahayuti coalition’s electoral victory, the alliance is struggling with disagreements regarding the post of chief minister. In the assembly polls, the BJP-led Mahayuti won a landslide victory in the Maharashtra Assembly elections, winning 235 seats in the 288-member assembly.
