Atique Ahmed is an Indian politician. He was an SP member of the 14th Lok Sabha from the Phulpur in Uttar Pradesh from 2004-2009. From 1999-2003 he was the president of the Apna Dal, founded by Sone Lal Patel. Atique Ahmad was born on 10 August 1962. He has declared that there are now no cases pending against him when he submitted his affidavit in 2014 elections. The most sensational murder was that of BSP MLA Raju Pal, who had defeated Atique's brother Ashraf in the 2004 Uttar Pradesh state legislature elections. In the 2009 General Elections, Aatiq Ahmad was allowed to run for election and he stood from the Apna Dal party from Pratapgarh because Samajwadi Party had expelled him in 2008, but he lost. Again in Uttar Pradesh Elections 2012, Ahmed fought under the Apna Dal banner from the Allahabad (West) constituency but lost Raju Pal's widow, Puja Pal.In 2014, he was taken back into the Samajwadi Party and fought the National Elections from the Shrawasti. He managed to secure a quarter of the votes, but lost by nearly a lakh votes to Daddan Mishra of the BJP.Ahmed has fought several elections from jail, lodged under various charges.
