Asaduddin Owaisi while addressing a public meeting in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki on Sunday demanded the repeal of CAA and NRC and warned that protestors will 'turn streets into Shaheen Bagh' if the two laws are not scrapped.  

Ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) announced that it will contest elections on 100 seats out of the 403 assembly seats.

The number of MLAs from the Muslim community has varied over the years in Uttar Pradesh. The state had 23 MLAs from the Muslim community in 2017, 64 MLAs in 2012, 56 MLAs in 2007, 64 MLAs in 2002. In the 2017 assembly elections, BJP got 39.7 per cent votes, BSP got 22.2 per cent, Samajwadi Party 21.8 per cent and Congress got 6.2 per cent votes. 

Owaisi's comments came amid a controversy over Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party chief OP Rajbhar's statement that had Mohammed Ali Jinnah been made the first Prime Minister of India, there would not have been partition.

The Lok Sabha MP from Hyderabad also alleged that the government is weakening the country internally.

Reacting sharply, the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that it was a case of "plain hatred towards Muslims".

AIMIM will contest all elections in Maharashtra from Aurangabad on and the option of entering into alliances is also open, party president Asaduddin Owaisi said on Saturday.

The AIMIM chief, lashing out at Pakistan said that Pakistan is 50 years behind India, and stressed that Islam is not just the name of a sport.

Earlier on Monday, Pakistan Minister Sheikh Rasheed stated that Pakistan's win against India at the T20 World Cup 2021 was a 'victory for Islam'.

Months ahead of the elections, the AIMIM claimed that Dalits and Muslims face the most injustices in Uttar Pradesh and asked them to beware of the politics of the leaders.

Asaduddin Owaisi said that the BJP will soon declare Veer Savarkar as 'the father of the nation'.  

"Why does Narendra Modi not remove Ajay Mishra from cabinet? If the father is a minister, the vehicle belonged to him, it caused death of 5 farmers, he warns people and two days later 5 farmers are killed, why does Narendra Modi not sack him?" Owaisi asked during a rally in Balrampur.

Shivpal Yadav said that he would wait till October 11 to get a response from Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav after which he would decide his own course of action.

Speaking during India TV Chunav Manch in Lucknow, Owaisi said countered both the Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party while accusing them of using Muslims just to win elections.
