Elections to the 403 assembly constituencies in Uttar Pradesh will be held in seven phases starting February 10. The polling will be held on February 10, 14, 20, 23, 27, March 3 and 7.

Apna Dal MLAs Chaudhary Amar Singh and RK Verma have resigned just ahead of the Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh.

Anupriya Patel, president of the Apna Dal (Sonelal) party, was on Wednesday inducted into Prime Minister Narendra Modi's new Cabinet.

Anupriya Patel, the Apna Dal MP from Uttar Pradesh's Mirzapur district, has demanded a ban on the web series, "Mirzapur 2", saying it was spreading ethnic disharmony.

"There is no question of a merger. The Apna Dal has been building up its strength and we will not betray the people who have supported us," said a senior Apna Dal MLA.

The exclusion of the Apna Dal from the Modi government on Thursday has left the party 'hurt and upset.  

Reflecting 'frictions' with the BJP, Apna Dal(S) leader and Union minister Anupriya Patel on Thursday said she stood by the remarks of her husband and party president Ashish Patel, who had voiced frustration with the saffron party over its "treatment" of smaller NDA allies.  

Anupriya, the Union minister of state for health, was conspicuous by her absence at the event where the chief minister inaugurated a medical college.  

Lok Sabha was today informed that less than 50 per cent of the donated eyes collected under the National Programme for Control of Blindness (NPCB) of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare are utilized for corneal transplantation
