Gajendra Chauhan is replaced by actor Anupam Kher as the new chairman of Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

Anupam's appointment as the FTII chief was announced on Wednesday. He will succeed the controversial Gajendra Chauhan, whose appointment in 2014 had triggered widespread student protests.

Veteran actor Anupam Kher, who was appointed Chairman of the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) on Monday, said he will try to perform his duties to the best of his abilities.

The students of the institute were on strike since 2015 demanding the removal of Gajendra Chauhan.
