Amit Shah is the senior leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and has been the Union Home Minister since 2019. He has also been serving as the Union Minister of Co-operation since 2021. Shah was the president of the BJP from 2014 to 2020. He has been a Lok Sabha member from the Gandhinagar constituency of Gujarat since 2019. In the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, Shah won the Gandhinagar seat by defeating Congress candidate Dr CJ Chavda with a margin of 5,57,014 votes. He was the Minister of State for Home, Law and Justice, Prison, Border Security, Civil Defence, Excise, Home Guards, Transport, Prohibition, Gram Rakshak Dal, Police Housing, Legislative and Parliamentary Affairs in Gujarat in the Narendra Modi-led government from 2002 to 2012. Shah won the Sarkhej Assembly constituency in Gujarat in 1997 (bypoll), 1998, 2002 and 2007. He also represented the Naranpura Assembly seat from 2012 to 2017. Shah also served as the Rajya Sabha member from 2017 to 2019. Amit Shah is again contesting from the Gandhinagar constituency in the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Referring to the 2016 surgical strike, Amit Shah said India, through military action, sent across a strong message to the entire world that no one can interfere with its borders.

Addressing a function at Pansar in Gandhinagar district, Amit Shah said no other leader in the world has achieved the feat of getting elected continuously for 20 years.
In the evening, the BJP leader will reach his native town Mansa in Gandhinagar district and visit a government-run hospital.
Modi served as Gujarat CM between 2001 and 2014.
According to sources, earlier it was only CM Charanjit Singh Channi who had left for Delhi, however, his chopper was made to land in Chandigarh airport where Working President of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee Kuljit Nagra and Congress MP from Ludhiana, who is in the race for the post of new Punjab Congress President Ravneet Singh Bittu along with Channi boarded a chartered plane to Delhi.
Amit Shah also welcomed cycle rallies of CAPFs, which started from different parts of India, such as Dandi, North East and Leh to Kanyakumari, and concluded at Rajghat in the national capital.
While praising Shah on the one hand, Singh also took a dig at the RSS, saying that it is not a registered body.
Goa Assembly elections are scheduled to take place in 2022. Previously, the Goa Legislative Assembly election was held in Feb 2017.
Amarinder Singh is in Delhi for the last two days and his meeting with Amit Shah has added another dimension to Punjab politics.
Amarinder Singh is likely to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi today amid speculations that he could join the BJP.
