Hyderabad: YSR Congress will hold state-wide dharnas tomorrow against the TDP government for its alleged non-implementation of poll promise such as loan waiver for farmers and self-help groups, party president Y S Jaganmohan Reddy said here today.
“We will undertake dharnas in all 663 mandals in the state against Chandrababu Naidu's anti-people rule, on farm loan waiver, DWCRA (self-help groups) loan waiver and (social security) pensions,” Reddy, the Opposition Leader in Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly, told reporters here.
Farmers are not getting fresh loans and crop insurance now because the TDP did not implement farm loan waiver, he alleged.
“Naidu is washing his hands off by allocating a mere amount of Rs 5,000 crores for farm loan waiver when the cumulative interest itself is Rs 28,000 crores,” he said.
The TDP government made an inadequate allocation of Rs 1,338 crores for social security pensions when the required amount is to the tune of Rs 3,650 crores, Reddy claimed.
Intensifying its campaign against the state government, YSR Congress would organise protests at the offices of District Collectors in December. The YSRC chief would observe fast in the first week of January as part of its campaign.
Asked about the ongoing row between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh over sharing the power generated at the Srisailam project, Jagan alleged that Naidu reacted only when water level came down substantially.
Andhra Pradesh has raised objections on Telangana generating power at the project noting that it would lead to water scarcity for Rayalaseema region if the water level fell drastically.
Replying to a query on development of capital city for Andhra Pradesh, he said YSRC would stand by the farmers who are against parting with their lands.
On the state's ongoing row with Telangana over transfer of funds in labour department, Reddy said the issue can be sorted out and that institutions like Governor are available.
