New Delhi: BJP MP Yogi Adityanath sparked yet another controversy when he told Lok Sabha that Hindus, when threatened, must be prepared to organize themselves and
fight back.
42 year old Yogi Adityanath, MP from Gorakhpur, made this statement while participating in the debate on increasing communal violence in the country.
Mallikarjun Kharge, leader of Congress in Lok Sabha, while speaking on the matter alleged that 600 riots had taken place in different parts of the country in the two months since Prime Minister Modi's government took office.
"You divide society on the basis of religion and implant your principles on suppressed sections like minorities so that they remain away from power," Adityanath said.
Reacting strongly to critical observations made against the Modi government by Congress led opposition, Yogi Adityanath said, "You claim you are secular but the agenda
you implement is communal... there are 12 lakh Hindu saints in the country but you talk about giving salaries to imams. Is this secularism?"
Accusing Congress and Samajwadi Party of following a policy of minority appeasement, Yogi Adityanath said, "Hindu religion followers will have to organize themselves.
People in the country are getting ready for this to counter such appeasement at every level."
Yogi Adityanath reminded Congress of communal riots, including 1984 anti-Sikh riots that took place under their rule.
He also reminded the Congress of exodus of Kashmiri pandits from their homes.
