Jammu: National Conference will offer any sacrifice for preserving the unity and “composite ethos” of Jammu and Kashmir, party leader Ali Mohammed Sagar said yesterday while asserting that people in the three regions of the state would fight any forces that attempt to undermine the same.
“Bartering the interests of the state may be the agenda for those who want to remain glued to power by compromising with their conscience, but the people, irrespective of caste, creed, region or religion, are firm in their resolve to maintain the single entity of the state and preserve its composite ethos,” the NC general secretary said at a day-long meet of party functionaries at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhavan here.
He said that National Conference, being a “people's movement”, has always surmounted challenges with the strength of its dedicated cadre.
He exhorted the cadre to gear up for challenges unleashed by “divisive elements” and help preserve the true character of J-K, which he said was a repository of unity and tranquillity. He also urged NC workers to fan out in their respective areas and help build a society based on trust, love and compassion, as envisioned by Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah.
Sagar also reviewed the progress of NC's membership drive that is currently underway in the state and hoped that the party cadre will expedite the same and reach out to every nook and corner of J-K.
