New Delhi, June 27: Embarrassed over union minister Beni Prasad Verma's remark that Congress leaders worked as the B team of the Samajwadi Party (SP) in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress Wednesday termed it an internal affair of the party and said it would be sorted out.
"It is an internal affair of the party. I have spoken to him (Verma). We will discuss the issue and sort it out," newly-appointed Congress general secretary in-charge of Uttar Pradesh Madhusudan Mistry told reporters.
Verma reportedly made the remark in Lucknow Tuesday.
Verma, who
He had quit the SP to join the Congress in 2009, has embarrassed the party leadership many times earlier due to his controversial remarks.
Mistry said he spoke to the minister Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mistry, who delivered Karnataka to the Congress, was given the charge of Uttar Pradesh by party vice president Rahul Gandhi in the latest reshuffle two weeks ago.
Mistry's first visit to the state will be June 28, where he is expected to meet party leaders, workers, legislators and MPs.
