Dehra Dun, July 17: Opposition-backed Presidential poll nominee P A Sangma on Monday said he would move the Supreme Court against the Election Commission's decision to quash the complaint against UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee's nomination papers after the elections.

“In consultation with leaders like Ram Jethmalani and Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy, we will move the Supreme Court on the EC's ruling after the elections are over,” Sangma told reporters here.

Sangma expressed hope Trinamool Congress would support his candidature.

“Tomorrow, Mamata Banerjee will take a decision. I am optimistic it is going to be in my favour”, Sangma said.

Sangma also exuded optimism that MLAs and MPs from Uttarakhand would vote for him.

“Since independence, no individual hailing from hills states of Uttarakhand, Jammu Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and hilly states of North East has ever occupied the place in Raisina Hills.“As a Pahari hailing form Garo Hills, I am seeking support of the people in Uttarakhand to make that possible. I am sure the MPs and MLAs will rise above party lines and vote for me”, said Sangma.

Sangma said Janata Dal United is unable to justify why it was not supporting him.

“There is no justification in JD(U)'s decision and it is unable to explain why they were not extending support to me”, he said.

To a question whether he would remain in UPA after the Presidential election, Sangma said his future rests with NDA.
