Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi today said his government would try to fulfill the dream of his predecessor Nitish Kumar, a Metro Railway in Patna, for which a DPR has been formulated.
Manjhi addressing a global investor meet on Metro Railway said Kumar had seen dream of Metro Railway in Patna on which work has been done since 2013 and “I would do everything needed for its fulfillment.”
DPR (Detail Project Report) of Rs 12,000 crore has been formulated for the Metro trains in Patna, Manjhi said in an official release here.
He said the metro railway would help decongest traffic in the capital city, Patna population has reached 22 lakh and is increasing daily and in this condition metro rail would help decongest road traffic, the CM said.
He assured the investors that no problem would come in their way in execution of the project.
Bihar Urban Development minister Samrat Chaudhary said that initially the metro rail would cover 27.88 km out of which 15.47 km would be underground and 12.13 km length in open.
The metro would connect east-west corridor from Danapur to Meethapur which would have 13 stations while north-south corridor with 12 stations would link Patna junction to ISBT, Chaudhary said.
The DPR of the metro rail has been prepared by RITES. RITES Managing Director Piyush Kaisal said that this project would be completed in five year at an estimated cost of Rs 12,000 crore.
