Why is Narendra Modi dying for US visa, asks Renuka Chaudhary (India TV Exclusive)

New Delhi, Aug 1: Renuka Chaudhary is one of the most articulate spokespersons of the Congress party. She never minces words in criticizing her opponents but at the same time,  is always effusive in her

Q: Don't you think that Rahul Gandhi is avoiding media, especially in Delhi?

Renuka:
No, I don't think so. I think there are different ways for  different people. Who says that one needs to speak to media all the time, to seek more and more publicity? He wants his work to speak. And this is a different style and a  humble way of a person who does not believe in blowing his own trumpet. This is something that BJP does. They own the royalty for the same and let them continue with this. One BJP leader came to Delhi a few days back and said that he is the best. Just see in what mess that party is finding itself.

Q: Coming to Shakeel Ahmed's statement on Indian Mujahideen , BJP leader Arun Jaitely has accused your party of communalizing politics. Do you agree with Shakeel Ahmed's statement?

Renuka: It's a different matter whether we agree or don't agree with his statement. But look at the context in which Shakeel Ahmed said it on the twitter. He did not say it to communalise a community. He just said that there is reaction to an action. And he made this statement on his personal twitter account.

Q: Isn't it strange that you are supporting Narendra Modi's action-reaction theory? It was Modi who said that Gujarat riots took place because Kar sevakas were burnt alive inside a train.

Renuka: I'm sorry but please don't judge us on Modi's parameters. Don't forget that our party is much older than Modi's age. We have contributed immensely to the development of the country. They just come for a while and vanish in no time.

Q: In 2014, who will be Congress party's main competitor?  Who are you going to compete with?

Renuka: we are going to compete with ourselves. There is nobody in competition with us.
