New Delhi: Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) through the latest issue of its mouthpiece ‘Panchjanya' has raised questions on BJP's choice of Kiran Bedi as its Chief Ministerial candidate in the recently held Delhi polls.

Through the fortnightly issue of its mouthpiece, RSS pointed out how ignoring party workers have cost BJP in the Delhi polls.

In its two-part cover story titled 'Akankshaon ki Udaan' (flight of aspirations) and 'Vaade, Sawaal, Kejriwal' (promises, questions, Kejriwal), the RSS mouthpiece says, "The question is why did BJP lose? Was the decision to make Kiran Bedi CM candidate correct? Would the results have been different had Harsh Vardhan or any other BJP member from the state been chosen as CM candidate?"

As reported by Times of India, the piece written by Manoj Verma even went on to ask if BJP failed to take achievements of Narendra Modi to the masses and if the party is too dependent on the Modi wave.

The piece further says, “Or did BJP lose because of lack of unity in the organization, planning and most importantly respect for the sentiments of the workers?"

There is another piece written by Hitesh Shankar which points fingers towards the leadership of BJP. It says, “BJP office-bearers will have to answer if they have any capital other than Sangh's ideological strength and commitment of party workers. If some people in the organization and the government thought that the party is some kind of machine that can gallop at their whim, these results have broken that illusion. It is with the party workers' dedication and commitment to the nationalist ideology that BJP has been able to retain its vote share.”

The RSS piece also questioned the approach taken by the saffron party bearers in context of projection of certain members. It questioned upfront that were BJP functionaries overconfident of their extreme acceptability among public.

Even several BJP leaders also expressed similar concerns. One of the party leaders told the daily that the party lost even its safest seat of Krishna Nagar (Kiran Bedi's constituency) which shows that not only the office-bearers but even the workers of the party did not support it in the polls.

He said that selection of Kiran Bedi is a message that the party is undergoing a leadership crisis which the workers did not like.

The daily states that BJP members in private have admitted to many of the mistakes hinted at the Panchjanya however, the party is officially maintaining that the responsibility of losing the elections is collective and that it is still analyzing the loss.
