Although he made his debut in Bollywood with Sunil Dutt's Mann Ka Meet in 1968, Khanna got his first solo lead role in the movie Hum Tum Aur Woh in 1971.
After working in numerous multi- and solo starrer movies, Khanna quit the industry as soon as he touched the pinnacle of his career. In 1980, Khanna became an Osho follower which put a halt to his acting career. This continued for five long years.
