Varanasi: Preparations are in full swing in Varanasi for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's two-day visit to his parliamentary constituency.
The entire administration is focused on sprucing up the city ahead of Modi's visit. Giving details of security arrangements, IG (law and order) A Satish Ganesh, said that five to six Union Ministers may accompany the Prime Minister.
Modi will land in an Indian Air Force (IAF) plane at the Babatpur airport at 10.20 am tomorrow and then proceed to the city by road. He will meet a group of intellectuals, garland the statue of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) founder Madan Mohan Malviya, lay the foundation stone of a Rs 200-crore textile designing institute and meet BJP workers.
On the other hand, people in Jayapur village, which he will be adopting under the ‘Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana', are in festivity mood and are ready to welcome the Prime Minister. Villagers are busy in creating rangolis and making delicious dishes to mark Modi's arrival.
Jayapur village is located 32 km from Varanasi city centre in the Rohaniya assembly segment.
Several banks, including the SBI, have flocked to the village and are working in close cooperation with local officials to open banks accounts of villagers under Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojna.
The local administration has descended upon Jayapur, removing garbage, clearing wild bushes and giving the village a facelift.
Like other villages in the vicinity, the Jayapur village also lacks facilities of basic amenities.
This will be Narendra Modi's first visit to his constituency after being sworn-in as the Prime Minister.
