New Delhi: Firebrand Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Subramanian Swamy has said that people who are useless and non-deserving are returning their awards in the name of 'intolerance'.
"They are all useless people. They don't deserve the award and it's good that they have returned it," Swamy said on Sunday.
Swamy's remark came in the wake of prominent writers returning their award in protest against the 'rising intolerance in India' under the present NDA government.
The government has been facing flak from different quarters on the issue of "growing intolerance" in the wake of the Dadri lynching, the beef row and incidents of communal violence.
Meanwhile, the issue of intolerance is set to reverberate in Lok Sabha today with Speaker Sumitra Mahajan accepting notices opposition parties for a discussion on the matter.
