New Delhi, March 21: The BJP Wednesday said the UPA government had lost the mandate to rule the country following the exit of the DMK from the ruling coalition.

The Bharatiya Janata Party also raised doubts if the government would be able to get the finance bill passed in parliament.

"This minority government has lost its right to rule the country... They have lost the trust of allies as well as the nation," BJP's Rajiv Pratap Rudy told IANS.

The appropriation bill, which allows the government to spend money till the finance bill is passed by parliament, is pending for approval in the upper house.

The government has been in a spot since Tuesday when the DMK announced withdrawal of support over India's failure to take a hard line vis-a-vis Sri Lanka at the UNHRC in Geneva.

The Samajwadi Party, which extends outside support to the government with its 22 MPs, has been agitating against Steel Minister Beni Prasad Verma for his comments on party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
