Lucknow:  After fingers have been raised against Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey for allegedly appointing his two son-in-laws in the assembly flouting norms, Governor Ram Naik today said that he would "examine the matter".

"The complaint has come to me two days back. I have read it. I will examine the matter. I am going out of station and will look into it after I return," Naik told reporters.

Social activist Nutan Thakur had complained to the Governor on July 1 about the alleged improper appointment of Pandey's two sons-in-law to high posts.

Thakur alleged Pandey appointed his elder son-in-lawPradeep Kumar Pandey to the post of Editor on March 22, 2013 and younger son-in-law Narendra Shankar Pandey to the post of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) on May 12, 2015 in the Assembly.

She alleged that vacancies to these posts were not advertised and appointments of persons lacking the minimum qualifications were made in a clandestine manner without adopting the due process.

In case of Narendra, even his address used is that of Mata Prasad Pandey's flat alloted to him as a legislator, she alleged.

Calling this a serious case of misuse of authority, Thakur has requested enquiry and action in this matter.

Speaker Mata Prasad Pandey, however was not available for comments.
