Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said that the state was rich in heritage and culture and the government was working to promote tourism.
“The heritage which UP has, I can say that no other state possesses,” Akhilesh said while inaugurating the UP Travel Mart here.
In a bid to attract tourists, the first UP Travel Mart will be held here from February 22 to 24. It aims to make the experience of tourists visiting the state better. Around 80 people from 27 countries are participating in the event.
Earlier, the travel mart was being organised annually by the name of “Great Indian Travel Bazar” in Jaipur but with the UP government and FICCI entering into an understanding, it was decided to organise it in Lucknow.
The government's aim is to present historical monuments and various rich tourism sites on global platform, so that both domestic as well as foreign tourists can enquire about it and know different facets of the unlimited tourism potential in the state.
The exhibition of the travel mart and its closing ceremony would be held at Indira Gandhi Pratishthan.
