Hyderabad, Oct 3 : After camping in New Delhi for 23 days, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief K. Chandrasekhara Rao returned to Hyderabad Wednesday with the hope that the final round of talks with the Congress leadership would be held soon on the Telangana issue.

Under criticism from other pro-Telangana groups for his failure to extract a firm assurance from the Congress on the formation of a Telangana state, KCR, as Chandrasekhara Rao is popularly known, refused to speak to the media.

Earlier, before leaving for Hyderabad, he told reporters in New Delhi that he had come at the invitation of the Congress. “I held talks with several leaders. The talks were positive and fruitful,” he said.

While leaving for Delhi Sep 5, KCR, also a Lok Sabha member from Mahabubnagar constituency in Andhra Pradesh, had exuded confidence that the Telangana issue would be solved by September-end.

TRS leaders here had been maintaining that KCR would return only after the central government makes an announcement on granting statehood to Telangana. He reportedly discussed with Congress leaders his offer to merge TRS with the Congress if the government carves a Telangana state out of Andhra Pradesh.

KCR was criticised by some pro-Telangana groups for staying away from the Telangana march organised by the Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) in Hyderabad Sep 30.

With the Congress declining to make a clear commitment on Telangana state, a section of TRS leaders are reportedly of the view that the TRS should launch a fresh agitation. They are worried over other groups trying to take over the leadership of the Telangana movement.
