Mathura (UP), Jun 7: Senior Trinamool Congress leader and Railway Minister Mukul Roy on Wednesday said his party would urge the Election Commission to deploy para-military forces during the Mat Assembly bye-election in Mathura, amid allegations that the last polls were rigged.

“We will meet the Chief Election Commissioner and apprise him of the rigging in the last Assembly elections and request him to conduct the bye-election under the supervision of para-military forces,” said Roy, whose party has fielded a candidate there.

Addressing a gathering in Bajna town, he promised the people that all their grievances would be addressed if the TMC wins the by-poll.

The by-election has been necessitated following the resignation of RLD chief Ajit Singh's son Jayant Chaudhary, who had won this seat in the recent Assembly election.
