Kolkata, April 15: Admitting that the ruling Trinamool Congress in West Bengal has made a few mistakes while carrying out development, party leader Derek O'Brien Monday said that the party will learn from its follies.

"Trinamool has been doing a lot of development, and in doing this positive development (in Bengal), we have made two-three mistakes. We will learn from these mistakes," Trinamool parliamentarian O'Brien told media persons here.

In the wake of vandalism at the city's prestigious Presidency University, allegedly by the party's students' wing activists, O'Brien said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will not tolerate such hooliganisms even if it comes from her own party workers.

"If there is violence, if there is hooliganism, she (Banerjee) will not tolerate it. And even if Trinamool workers are involved, that does not absolve them from the guilt," added O'Brien.

The Presidency University vandalism was a part of a series of alleged statewide retaliatory attacks by Trinamool supporters in the wake of the April 9 heckling of Banerjee and one of her ministers in New Delhi, allegedly by the students wing of the Communist Party of India-Marxist.

Banerjee, who had set up a mentor group to revive the fortunes of the university, is said to have been "devastated" by the vandalism which took place April 10.
