Manohar Parrikar
Manohar Parrikar is the incumbent Chief Minister of Goa is known as one of the most honest politician. This is reflected on his innocent face as well. He is the first IIT graduate to become a CM.
Parrikar is respected for his humility. He had once claimed, “My temperament is not that of a central leader”.
He studied at Loyola High School, Margao. He graduated from IIT Bombay in Metallurgical Engineering in 1978. In 2001 he was awarded - the Distinguished Alumnus Award by IIT Bombay.
He was first elected to the Second Legislative Assembly of the State of Goa in 1994. IN 2002, he became the CM of Goa for the first time on 24th October 2000, but his tenure lasted only for two years.
On 5th June 2002, he was re-elected and became the Chief Minister again. Since 9th March, 2012 he has been the CM of Goa.
In 2012, he was awarded CNN-IBN Indian of the Year in politics category.
