Vasudhara Raje – Born in the royal family of his highness Jivaji Rao Scindia, she has every touch of royalty.
Vasundhara was the fourth child born to Jivaji Rao and Vijaya Raje. She was sent to Presentation Convent in Kodiakanal. She graduated in Economic Hons from Sophia College, Mumbai University.
She learned politics from her mother Rajmata Vijaya Raje Scindia, ever since she was a teenager.
Vasundhara had been married to the ruler of Dholpur, Maharaja Hemant Singh. But the couple separated a couple of years ago. It is through him that she developed special relationship with Rajasthan.
In 1984, Vasundhara entered mainstream politics and joined the national working committee of BJP. In 1987 she became the vice president of Rajasthan state unit of BJP and in 1989 she was elected as an MP from Jhalawar.
Her popularity grew to such an extent that she won the Jhalawar seat for five consecutive terms. She was also the Minister of State for External Affairs in 1998 in Atal Bihari Vajpayee's government.
In 2003 she was elected as the first ever woman Chief Minister of Rajasthan. Then in 2013 she was again appointed as the CM after defeating Ashok Gehlot (Congress).
In 2007, she was awarded with ``Women Together Award'' by the UNO for her exemplary work towards woman empowerment.
