Ram Vilas Paswan (LJP)
Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) chief Ram Vilas Paswan won the Hajipur seat by 5,04,448 votes on a Janata Dal ticket in 1989 polls.
He is the only candidate elected twice with the highest victory margin. Second time, he won by 4,24,545 votes in 1977 on a Bharatiya Lok Dal ticket.
Ram Vilas Paswan, eight time Lok Sabha member and former a Rajya Sabha MP, started his political career as member of Samyukta Socialist Party and was elected to the Bihar Legislative Assembly in 1969.
He was elected as member of 16th Lok Sabha in the 2014 general election from Hajipur constituency, while his son Chirag Paswan won from from Jamui constituency.
He holds Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution portfolio in Narendra Modi's Cabinet.
Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency is one of the 40 Lok Sabha constituencies in Bihar.
