PV Narasimha Rao (Congress)
The third highest victory margin has been recorded by late Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. He had won from Nandyal in Andhra Pradesh with a 5.8 lakh margin in 1991.
Rao's victory from here was recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Rao had served as the tenth Prime Minister of India from 1991 to 1996. He was the first holder of the Prime Minister's Office from south India. He led an important administration, overseeing a major economic transformation and several home incidents affecting national security of India. He is often referred to as the ‘Father of Indian Economic Reforms'. He was also referred to as Chanakya for his ability to steer tough economic and political legislation through the Parliament at a time when he headed a minority government.
