--Differences cropped up between the Centre and Anna's men over the drafting of Lokpal Bill.
--August 16, 2011: Anna tried to proceed towards Raj Ghat to begin his fast, but was arrested by Delhi Police. Anna refused to take bail and was sent to Tihar jail. Anna sought to sit on fast at Ramlila Maidan but was refused. He sat on fast inside the Tihar jail superintendent's office. At last the government agreed and allowed Anna to sit on fast at Ramlila Maidan. Anna's fast began from Aug 20 at Ramlila Maidan. The fast continued to September 8, after which Anna called off his fast saying he would continue to fight for Jan Lokpal Bill till his last breath.
