Mumbai: With Maharashtra Assembly elections drawing near, Senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse Saturday met with Sena leaders and reminded them of the BJP's generosity towards its allies, and therefore, their moral duty to reciprocate the gesture.
Leader of Opposition in the assembly and senior BJP leader Eknath Khadse, who met with Shiv Sena leaders earlier this week, reportedly told them that BJP gave seven parliamentary seats to Shiv Sena and now it was time for the Sena to return the favour in the forthcoming assembly elections.
Khadse said, “When I met the Sena leaders, I said our alliance started 25 years ago and at the time BJP used to contest on 32 seats. In the last few elections, we gave six of our seats. More recently, we gave one seat to RPI (A) chief Ramdas Athavale, who is an ally of the Sena. In all, we gave seven seats. Now it is Shiv Sena's turn to give us some more seats-at least 15 more.”
Maharashtra Assembly elections are supposed to be held in October this month.
