Mumbai, July 20 : Three arterial blockages have been removed through an angioplsty procedure this morning on Shiv Sena working president Uddhav Thackeray at the Lilawati Hospital here, the cardiac surgeon said.
Dr Samuel Matthew, the cardiac surgeon who did the angioplasty, said Uddhav was now conscious and speaking to his family members.
He is likely to be discharged on Sunday, he added.
Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray went to the hospital and was with Uddhav till the check-up time before he was wheeled into the OT.
In the morning too, Raj Thackeray rang up Uddhav asking "Dadu, how are you". Uddhav said, he was fine and ready for the angioplasty.
Raj's mother Kunda Thackeray and son Amit reached the hospital earlier, and Raj followed, alongwith his MLA Bal Nandgaonkar, after half an hour. Uddhav's wife Rashmi and son Aditya too were present.
The angioplasty procedure began at 10:07 am.
