Gonda (UP): In a veiled attack at BJP ahead of Delhi assembly elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav today said those who have launched the issue of “love jihad” will be taught a lesson by the people of Delhi. “Those who have launched the issue of love jihad will be taught a lesson by the people of Delhi...,” Yadav said without mentioning BJP at a public meeting at the Kisan Inter college in Bhabhua here.
He said those who are spreading this canard and misleading the people will also get a lesson in West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh (where assembly elections will be held later). On the problems being faced by sugarcane farmers, Yadav said it is because of the wrong policies of the Central government that they were not getting the right price for their produce.
“The biggest hurdle is that despite adequate sugar production in the country it is being imported... I will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 8 and demand that the import of sugar be stopped immediately,” he said. The Chief Minister, while citing the works being done to increase resources in the police force said that all efforts are on to ensure that it (police) reaches the spot of crime within five minutes.
On the occasion, he unveiled several roads, bridges and commissioner office building and laid the foundation stones of several projects, including one of potable water.
Talking to newspersons in Bahraich later, Akhilesh Yadav said his government is paying special attention for improving medical facilities in the state.
“Necessary steps are being taken to open new medical colleges and enhance the capacity of the existing ones and check the exodus of doctors from the state,” he said, adding that the age limit for appointment and retirement of government doctors was being relaxed for this purpose.
“State's doctors after retiring at the age of 60 leave for other states which offer better facilities and so we are deprived of both their experience and expertise,” he said. The chief minister, who was here to meet the family members of Raja Madhvendra Vikram Singh of Payagpur estate who died in December last year, said development works were going on at a good pace.
“The construction work on Barabanki-Bahraich-Rupaideeh national highway has started besides work on medical colleges in Bahraich and Faizabad will also start soon,” he said while citing the development works in the area.
The chief minister, however, evaded a direct reply to a question on Governor Ram Naik suggesting that Samajwadi Party Chief Mulayam Singh Yadav and Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav should look into senior minister Azam Khan's attacks on him (Naik).
“We have very good relations with the Governor... you must have seen us together at functions on TV,” he added.
