New Delhi: A separate Telangana state will formally come into being on June 2, the central government said Tuesday.
The union home ministry fixed June 2 as the appointed day or formation day of Telangana state. The same day, the residual Andhra Pradesh state will come into existence.
President Pranab Mukherjee on March 1 gave his assent to Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Bill 2014. The gazette notification was published the same day but the appointed day was not declared.
Telangana will be 29th state in India. It will comprise 10 districts - Hyderabad, Ranga Reddy, Medak, Nalgonda, Mahabubnagar, Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, Khammam and Nizamabad.
Hyderabad will be common capital for both the states for 10 years. Andhra Pradesh will have 13 districts - four districts of Rayalaseema and nine districts of coastal Andhra.
