Tiruchirapalli, Apr 9: Janata Party President Subramanian Swamy today welcomed the withdrawal of the four-day fast-unto-death undertaken by social activist Anna Hazare, saying he was "happy and satisfied".

A stronger Lokpal Bill, demanding which Hazare undertook the fast, would prevent corruption and delay trial of corruption cases, Swamy said. He also alleged that all the five members of the Group of Minsters on Corruption were "involved in corruption in some way or the other".

Hazare's fast came to an end after the government agreed to constitute a Joint Committee of ministers and civil society activists to draft an effective Lok Pal Bill.

Swamy said it was "not good" to oppose the inclusion of politicians in the Joint Committee. "Without the involvement of the politicians law cannot be enacted in Parliament", he said.

There were many honest politicians inside and outside Parliament, he added.

Welcoming the Supreme Court's direction to investigate the 2G spectrum case on day-to-day basis, Swamy said Congress could not influence CBI in the investigation of the case. PTI
