Chandigarh: On the pattern of 'Clean India' campaign, the Manohar Lal Khattar government will launch 'Swachh Haryana Abhiyan'.
The campaign will be launched in Haryana from November 1, which is also celebrated as the 'Haryana Day'. Haryana was carved out as a separate state on November 1, 1966.
Chief Minister Khattar, who chaired the first meeting of his Cabinet here after assuming office on Sunday, said during the first seven days there will be special focus on this campaign after which government and NGOs, with cooperation of social organisations and general public will take the campaign forward.
During the campaign, which Khattar said will be on the lines of Narendra Modi government's 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan', focus will also remain on cleanliness of slum areas.
Khattar, who was addressing his maiden press conference here as the Chief Minister, said a chair at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak would be set up in the name of former Deputy Chief Minister of Haryana, Mangal Sain on the occasion of his birth anniversary, which was observed on Monday.
Sain was one of tallest leaders of the BJP in Haryana.
Khattar said the Cabinet also decided to observe October 31 as 'Rashtriya Ekta Diwas' (National Unity Day) in memory of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose birth anniversary falls on that day. Schools, colleges and universities in all the districts would celebrate the occasion in a befitting manner, he said.
