New Delhi, June 3: BJP leader Sushma Swaraj Sunday said the monsoon session of parliament could be preponed to pass the Food Security Bill and added that the party was not opposed to a special session of the houses being convened for the purpose.

Reacting to reports that the government was considering an ordinance or a special session of parliament to consider the Food Security Bill, she tweeted: "On the National Food Security Bill, there are media reports that the government is considering the option of an ordinance or to convene a special session of parliament. The ordinance route for such an important legislation is not desirable."

"We are not opposed to a special session of parliament. The better option will be to prepone the monsoon session which is anyway due in July," added Sushma Swaraj, leader of opposition in the Lok Sabbha.
