Patna : Senior BJP leader and Deputy Chief Minister, Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday  challenged RJD supremo Lalu Prasad to resign from the Lok Sabha and contest the assembly elections in Bihar to test his popularity.

"If Lalu Prasad is so much proud of his popularity, he should contest the state assembly poll after resigning from the Lok Sabha... people are sitting ready to give a befitting reply to him," Modi said in a press statement.

Stating that he had not not lost any elections he contested so far, Modi reminded Lalu Prasad of his defeat in Madhepura and Patliputra during the last Lok Sabha polls.

"Lalu has mastery in grabbing power from backdoor... even after Prasad was lodged in Beur jail in multi-crore rupees fodder scam, he continued to rule the state by proxy which is unethical," Modi said.

He was sharply reacting to Prasad's statement that both Nitish Kumar and Modi were ruling the state ensuring their entry to the state legislature from the backdoor. Both Kumar and Modi are members of the state legislative council. PTI
