Srinagar: People of Jammu and Kashmir today took to the streets to protest against the government after separatist leader Masarat Alam and his supporters waved Pak flags and shouted anti-India and pro-Pak slogans yesterday in a rally. The protesters expressed their concern over rising separatist activity in the valley.
People protesting in Srinagar seemed to be greatly concerned over J&K government's soft approach towards separatists.
A protester said, "As the BJP and PDP coalition government is formed, Mufti is talking and taking the agenda of separatists. The way the anti-national rally was conducted in Kashmir, it is not acceptable."
Protesters demanded that securities of separatist leaders like Yasin Malik, Masarat Alam should be suspended and they be arrested soon. They reiterated that Kashmir is integral part of India and will always remain so.

On Wednesday, Alam's supporters waved Pakistani flags and shouted anti-India slogans during a rally held in support of Hurriyat leader Syed Ali Geelani in Srinagar, when he arrived from Delhi after four months.
The anti-national activities of Masarat Alam since his release last month, has been a cause of widespread criticism of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. At the time of his release, the government had argued it was unable to keep Alam in jail as there were no criminal charges against him.
Alam is the chairman of Muslim League, a constituent of hardline Hurriyat Conference led by Geelani and is widely seen as the latter's heir apparent.
He had been accused for organising anti-India protests resulting in the death of 112 people in stone pelting across the Valley in 2010.
