New Delhi: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, who arrived here on Monday on a three-day visit, is to hold talks, including on the fishermen issue, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi here on Tuesday. Some agreements are also set to be inked.

Wickremesinghe, who is on his first overseas visit after becoming prime minister last month, and Modi are expected to discuss ways to boost bilateral ties and trade.

The proposed comprehensive economic partnership agreement between the two countries is also likely to figure in the talks.

Wickremesinghe met External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj ahead of his meeting with Modi at Hyderabad House.

On Sunday, in a goodwill gesture, the Sri Lankan government announced the release of 16 Indian fishermen who had been arrested for entering Sri Lankan waters.

Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena had also chosen India as the first destination of his foreign tour earlier this year.
