Mumbai: Sena-BJP alliance seems to be drifting apart and Congress-NCP bond is in no better position. Amidst such chaos prior to Maharashtra assembly polls, SP-MIM veterans are fresh mood to unite and form an alliance.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leaders met at Maharashtra Samajwadi Party (SP) Chief Abu Asim Azmi's residence in Mumbai to discuss on forming alliance for the upcoming elections, according to SP leader who wishes to be quoted anonymous till the alliance is officially formed.
The SP leader revealed that SP and AIMIM discussed possibility of an alliance so that secular votes would not be scattered.
While Shiv Sena – BJP and NCP – Cong are unable to sort out internal conflict, its seems the third group SP – MIM is all set to cease the opportunity to provide an alternative to the voters.
The meeting between the two leaders took place while Akbaruddin Owaisi was on the whirlwind tour of the metropolis and nearby Mumbra and Bhiwandi to kickstart MIM's election campaign.
Akbaruddin Owaisi has not yet offered confirmation on this. But when media approached Abu Asim Azmi, he shrugged off with a smile adding, “We are good friends and friends do have lunch and dinners together.”
The Owaisis have cordial relations with Abu Asim Azmi. They worked closely with other Muslim MPs on common issues, especially the indiscriminate arrests of Muslim youths for alleged terror links.
