Etawah (UP): The 45-year-old son of a Samajwadi Party leader allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance, police said today.
Amar Chand, son of Ram Sewak Yadav who holds Minister of State rank, allegedly ended his life by consuming poison yesterday at his home in Gangapura village in Basrehar area here, circle officer AK Dixit said.
He was rushed to the hospital, where he died during the treatment, Dixit said.
Yadav is Chairman of Cane Development Institute and enjoys Minister of State status in the Akhilesh Yadav government.
SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav and senior party leaders have condoled Chand's death, while the party's National General Secretary Ram Gopal Yadav met the members of bereaved family.
