Faridabad: In a mega camp organised for the welfare and upliftment of differently abled people in the city today, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar released sops worth Rs 13.58 crore.

The sops included appliances such as motorised tri-cycles and loans for helping these people in different aspects.

In his address, Khattar said, any kind of help that the society and the government can extend to the differently abled people should not be done as an act of mercy but as an act of graciousness as part of our social obligation.

The Chief Minister said that everyone should come forward and extend their part for the upliftment of the downtrodden sections of society.

Referring to Prime Minister Modi calling himself a 'sewak' of the people of the country, Khattar said all the Chief Ministers, Ministers, Members of Parliament and MLAs should treat themselves likewise.

Addressing the gathering, Thawar Chand Gahlot, Cabinet Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment, said that under the green entrepreneur project worth Rs 200 crore, loans upto Rs 25 lakh will be provided to the differently abled people at a nominal rate of 3 per cent.

Member of Parliament from Faridabad, Krishan Pal Gurjar, said that about 300 people have benefited from this mega camp.

Of these, 1,362 handicapped students have been given tri-cycles of which 40 are motorised ones, he said.

Deputy Commissioner, Amit Kumar Agrawal, said that in the last employment camp more than 200 handicapped people were given jobs.

He said that by April 30, door to door collection of data will be complete in which people having any type of disability will be included.
