The ruling NDA in Bihar on Saturday accused Congress president Sonia Gandhi of being 'hand-in-glove' with Lalu Prasad from the reported disclosure by CBI director Ashwini Kumar that the Centre had not permitted the agency to challenge the acquittal of the RJD chief in a disproportionate assets case.
"The CBI director's reported disclosure has put the Centre and Sonia Gandhi in the dock ... it is evident that Sonia Gandhi and Lalu are hand-in-glove," BJP spokesman Vinod Narayan Jha, and state JD(U) general secretary Shambhu Nath Sinha said in separate press statements.
They demanded that Gandhi and the Centre owed an explanation why they refrained from granting permission to the CBI for challenging the acquittal of Prasad and his wife Rabri in the D A case, despite the agency's claim of having sufficient evidence for it. "Gandhi's gesture has also proved beyond doubt that the Congress has not slammed its door for Lalu," Jha said. PTI
