New Delhi: Congress President Sonia Gandhi has appointed screening committees for different states to shortlist candidates for the 2014 Lok Sabha elections.
Bhubaneshwar Kalita has been appointed chairman of screening committee for Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir and Uttarakhand. The committee has Harish Chaudhary as member, Ambika Sonia general secretary in-charge, Sukhwinder Sukhu, Yashpal Arya and Saifuddin Soz (PCC chiefs) and Virbhadra Singh, Vijay Bahuguna and Ch Mohd Aslam (CLP leaders).
V Narayanaswamy has been appointed chairman of screening committee for six North-East states and Sikkim (except Assam), with G. Chinna Reddy as member, general secretary in-charge L Faleiro, and Mukut Mithi, D D Lapang, S I Jamir, gaikhangam, Lal Thanhawla, Kunganima Lepcha and D C Hrangkhwal (all PCC chiefs) and Nabam Tuki, Mukul Sangma, Tokheho Yepthomi, Ibobi Singh, Lal Thanhawla, Sudip Roy Burman (all CLP leaders).
Sushil Kumar Shinde has been appointed chairman of screening committee for Assam, West Bengal, Bihar and Andaman Nicobar, with Manick Tagore as member and general secretary in-charge C P Joshi, Bhubanswar Kalita, Kuldeep Sharma, Ashok chaudhary and Pradip Bhattacharya (all PCC chiefs) and Tarun Gogoi, Sadanand Singh and Mohammed Sohrab (all CLP leaders).
Mallikarjun Kharge is chairman of screening committee for Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Mumbai, with Paresh Dhanani as member, and general secretary in-charge Mohan Prakash, Kantilal Bhuria, Manikrao thakre and Janardan Chandurkar (all PCC chiegs) and Prithviraj Chavan (CLP leader).
