Mumbai: A day after the newly elected MLAs of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Maharashtra unanimously elected Devendra Fadnavis as the leader of the legislature party, the MLAs of Shiv Sena will meet today evening at Matoshree in the presence of party chief Uddhav Thackeray to elect their legislative party leader.

The meeting will start at 6 pm at Matoshree, a party leader said.

It is expected the issue of extending support to the BJP will also figure in the meet.

It should be noted that the BJP has told the Shiv Sena that any decision on ministries can be decided later and they would have to first declare unconditional support.

Meanwhile, Fadnavis had on Tuesday evening met Maharashtra Governor C Vidyasagar Rao at Raj Bhavan and staked claim to form the next government in the state.

The Governor, according to Fadnavis, has invited the BJP to form the government and fixed the oath-taking ceremony on October 31. The Governor has also given 15-days time to the BJP to prove the majority on the floor of the House.

The BJP emerged as the single largest party in the recently concluded assembly elections in the state. While it bagged 122 seats in the 288-member House, the Shiv Sena managed to get 63 seats. The Congress and the NCP slipped to the third and fourth position in the state with 42 and 41 seats, respectively.
