New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Sheile Dikshit has clarified that she never said BJP should form government in Delhi.
" I never said BJP should form Delhi government. All I said was that if they have numbers they should form the government," said Sheila Dikshit.
A controversy had erupted in Congress party after Sheila Dikshit said on Thursday that BJP should form the government if it has the numbers. She had also added that it will be good for the people of Delhi.
"In a democracy, elected governments are always good as they represent the people. If BJP has reached such a situation that it can form government, it is good for Delhi," the former Delhi CM had said.
Two Congress MLAs, Mateen Ahmad and Asif Mohammad Khan, had also come out openly in support of Sheila Dikshit's stand on BJP's reported willingness to form government in Delhi.
The Congress leadership, however, had distanced itself from Sheila Dikshit's statement saying it was her personal opinion.
When asked if she was still in race for Delhi CM post, Sheila replied in negative.
"I rule myself out of Delhi completely. I am not interested. Let the young generation take over," said Sheila.
