New Delhi: The Grand Alliance was poised to win the battle for the Bihar assembly, Janata Dal-United (JD-U) leader Sharad Yadav said on Sunday.

“We will get about 150 seats,” Yadav told the media as officials counted the votes polled to elect a 243-member assembly.

“It was a very tough fight, it was a straight fight,” he said.

The JD(U) led Grand Alliance and the BJP-led NDA appeared to be involved in a close fight in the Bihar Assembly elections after more trends were available in the counting of votes that began this morning.

The Grand Alliance of JD(U)-RJD and Congress, which appeared trailing in the first one hour of trends, is now leading on almost every news channel.  While India TV showed the Grand Alliance ahead in  127 seats as against 94 of NDA among 221 seats, NDTV showed BJP leading on 101seats and JD(U) on 121 seats.

Trends of the 105 seats available on the Election Commission website showed BJP ahead in 30, RJD leading in 37 seats each, Janta Dal United in 21, Congress in 7 and Jitan Ram Manjhi's Hindustan Awam Morcha in three seats.
