New Delhi, Oct 18: Nationalist Congress Party chief and Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar today dismissed Y P Singh's charges related to the Lavasa scam saying the matter was already sub judice.
Speaking to mediapersons here, Pawar said, since Independence, India has not had a single hill station. All hill stations had been built during the British rule. The Maharashtra government introduced a hill station policy, under which two hill stations, Ambi Valley and Lavasa were to come up.
Pawar said, 80 per cent of the land (almost 300 acres) in Lavasa project was still submerged.
Moreover, he said, his daughter Supriya Sule and son-in-law Sadanand Sule had sold off their shares in the project in 2005 after a controversy erupted.
Thirdly, he said, it was true that he attended a meeting on the project at the Ekant guest house with the chief minister and other officials.
"It was because the project was coming up in my home district. The chief minister himself (Vilasrao Deshmukh), who is unfortunately no more, wanted that I should be present. There was nothing wrong in it."
Pawar said: "Since the Lavasa matter is sub judice, it will not be proper for me to say much about this."
