Mumbai, Sep 16: Raj Thackeray's MNS is witnessing a large number of new entrants from Muslim community who claim to be convinced by his statement that he is against Muslim immigrants from Bangladesh and Pakistan only and that he is not against Indian Muslims settling there.
But the first thing these Muslim entrants want is the ID cards of MNS bearing MNS logo prominently. They consider it as the guarantee for security whenever a riot takes place in the city in future.
At the Dongri office of the MNS, the clerics of six out of the 12 local mosques have officially joined the party by paying the required fee of Rs 5 for two years, as part of a membership drive launched by the party on 5 September.
The influx of Muslims into party fold has increased after Raj Thackeray's Azad Maidan rally in response to August 11 violence. In this rally, Raj tried to win over the local Muslims by saying that they have nothing to fear about as MNS is not against them.
