New Delhi: RJD leader Raghuvansh Prasad Singh today said that sages in the Vedic times used to eat meat and there is proof of it in the ancient texts.
"This is an academic debate. This should not become a matter in election. It is written in Ved, Puranas that sages used to eat beef," he told reporters.
Condemning the remarks, BJP firebrand leader Giriraj Singh that the 'whole clan of RJD has gone mad'.
"I am very much hurt by hearing this statement of Raghuvansh Prasad. I think all this spoken as a well thought strategy made by Lalau Prasad Yadav and Nitish Kumar. Whatever he is speaking is unacceptable and cannot be tolerated," Singh said.

"I think Lalu and his party leaders are making these kinds of statements just for the sake of votes. I think the whole clan of RJD has gone mad," Singh added.
Earlier, RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav had stirred controversy saying 'Hindus too eat beefs'. He had invited severe criticism from from opponents for this remark.
Politics over beef have intensified after lynching of 50-year-old man in Uttar Pradesh's Dadri. The issue has become a 'political tool' for leaders in poll-bound Bihar to attack each other.
